ENGİN BAYDAR

Engin Baydar, who has been working on marine and sailing instructor for many years, carries out his training activities in Istanbul at Fenerbahçe Marina with his company YelkenDersi.Com, which he created in 2013. As of 2018, Training activities continued in Bodrum-MUĞLA, south eagean side of TURKEY.

Before that, he gave various trainings to Competant Crews and Sailors at the company Furuno Maritime Training Center, Turkey’s first maritime classroom, founded by his family. Basically, it is not intended to provide a temporary training, but to train sailors who will be sailing in the real sense and who can manage that boat alone when they are on board.

Born in Istanbul, Engin Kaptan comes from a family of sailors and is a 3rd generation Ocean Going Captain. He started his career in commercial maritime by educating from Turkish Maritime Education Foundation, graduated as a Ocean Going Chief Officer, and served as the 4th, 3rd and 2nd Captain, respectively, of Turkish and foreign flagged ships of various shipping companies. As of 2004, he started to train sailors, realizing that they are alone during their voyages on their own boats and that the only source of advice is their own knowledge and skills.

WHO is ŞİMAL?

Şimal is more than the name of our sailing boat, it is the name of Engin BAYDAR’s daughter, born in 2018.
He gave this name, which means “north” in Old Turkish, first to his daughter and then to his boat.
